Holiday Reads We Can't Get Enough Of

With the holidays just right around the corner, books dragons are preparing to cozy up next to a fireplace and immerse themselves in a good book. They’re choosing between classics, bestiaries, and the works of their favorite authors. Here are our thoughts on holiday reads that are just as lovely as the season itself.

It is Christmas time! Prepping for Christmas can be a lot of work but it is always worth it in the end when you have your loved ones around you. They say that books are good for stress relief so if your life or work stress levels have sky-rocketed this year, consider reading one of these novels for a break from all the chaos.

Our Holiday Favorites

Dash & Lily's Book Of Dares, Rachen Cohn & David Levithan, 2010

“I’ve left some clues for you.
If you want them, turn the page.
If you don’t, put the book back on the shelf, please.”

Dash & Lily's Book of Dares is a great romance novel to get you in the holiday spirit. This is a really cute and delightful read, appropriate for most ages and tastes. This novel is a romantic comedy, with just enough struggles to keep it real and relatable.

I would recommend this novel to anyone who loves the idea of love at first sight but also likes a little comedy involved in it as well. From laughing out loud at the hijinks of Dash and Lily to swooning over the simplicity yet pure romance of their relationship, this book has it all. It is a great read for anyone looking for a good romance story without too many unnecessary details and complications.

Besides, who wouldn't want a romance that blossoms from a fun game of dares?

The Afterlife Of Holly Chase, Cynthia Hand, 2017

A fun take on the classic A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The story revolves around Holly Chase who was visited by three Christmas spirits in an effort to persuade her to change her ways.

Five years later, she still hadn't - and then she died.

Now, she works for Project Scrooge as the Ghost of Christmas Past and is determined to somehow change the outcome of her death and the future of her family by doing one small thing:

Loving someone.

The story is a little on the short side and could certainly be developed into a longer novel or even series, but we liked it as it was. It's a cute and quick tail-end of what could be considered as a Christmas classic.

In A Holidaze, Christina Lauren, 2020

"Jam-packed with yuletide cheer, an unforgettable cast of characters, and Christina Lauren’s trademark hijinks, this swoon-worthy romantic read will make you believe in the power of wishes and the magic of the holidays." - Goodreads excerpt

This book is a warm and cozy Christmas read for those of you looking for a funny novel. It revolves around a girl who is stuck in a time loop and must relive Christmas day over and over again. It has great humor, romance, and fun times with family. It is an overall fantastic read for the holidays.

From the first chapter, Maelyn Jones starts to see flashes of Christmas pasts she's never experienced before. It is a fun and romantic read. It's one of the most popular books on Amazon at the moment and you will not be disappointed with this one.
